Frequently asked
Quick answers to the things most people ask.
- What does KnobTV do?
- It plays standard M3U / M3U8 playlists on Apple TV. You paste the URL of a playlist you have rights to, and KnobTV reads the channel list, downloads logos, and plays the streams. That's the entire app.
- Does KnobTV come with channels?
- No. KnobTV is empty out of the box. You supply the playlist URL.
- Where do I get an M3U playlist?
- From any IPTV provider you subscribe to, your own self-hosted feed, or a public legal index like iptv-org. Make sure you have the right to access the channels in any playlist you point KnobTV at.
- How do filters work?
- A filter is a search term saved with a name. KnobTV matches it against each channel's name and group title. Toggle a filter on, and the Home tab shows only channels that match it. Active filters persist across launches.
- Can I combine multiple playlists?
- Yes. Add as many M3U URLs as you want. KnobTV merges them into one channel list and you filter across all of them.
- How often does KnobTV refresh playlists?
- Automatically once every 24 hours when you open the app, or any time you tap the refresh button in the channels list.
- Does KnobTV need internet?
- Yes — to download the playlist and to stream the channels. There is no KnobTV server in the loop; the requests go directly to whichever URLs you configured.
- How do I delete all my data?
- Delete the app from your Apple TV. Nothing of yours lives anywhere else.
